Associate

John Lu started at Severud Associates as a summer intern in 2015 and returned full-time the next year; in 2020, he progressed to senior engineer. He advanced to associate just two years later. Well versed in the design of new buildings and renovation of existing facilities, John has particular experience with canopies and other special structures. Among his portfolio of projects are the complete renovation of 825 Third Avenue in Manhattan, the Center for Community Health at NewYork-Presbyterian/Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, and the mixed-use development at Halletts Point in Queens. John’s recent work includes the new corporate headquarters at 270 Park Avenue and the overbuild redevelopment at One Madison Avenue, both in Manhattan, as well as a major film and television production hub in Brooklyn.

John is licensed as a professional engineer in New York. He earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering and a Master of Science in civil engineering from the University at Buffalo, the State University of New York.
