Senior Associate
Jack Gainey joined Severud Associates in 2013 as an engineer and progressed to senior engineer in 2016. Only two years later, Jack advanced to associate. In 2024, Jack was promoted to senior associate. During his years with the firm, Jack has engineered structures of many types, ranging from high-rise office and residential buildings to pedestrian bridges and signage, and using a wide array of structural systems. He has contributed to many challenging projects such as the TSX Broadway and Palace Theater redevelopment and the residential building 196 Orchard Street, both in Manhattan, and 28-32 Van Reipen Avenue, a mixed-use development in Jersey City, New Jersey. His other noteworthy projects include the mixed-use development at 20 Times Square, the “Transformation” of Madison Square Garden, as well as the PUMA flagship store on Fifth Avenue, all in New York City. Jack is also in charge of the firm’s Special Inspections team and coordinates the training and assignment of staff for the many projects under construction.
Jack is licensed as a professional engineer in New York and New Jersey. He earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Science in civil engineering from Columbia University.
