Stephen Reichwein – BD+C 40 Under 40 Class of 2024

Severud Associates is pleased to announce that Stephen Reichwein, PE has been inducted into the BD+C 40 Under 40 Class of 2024.

Each year since 2006, the editors of Building Design+Construction have honored 40 individuals in the Architecture, Engineering & Construction (AEC) community as the next generation of rising stars. These AEC professionals are recognized for their career achievements, passion for the AEC profession, involvement with AEC industry organizations, and service to their communities.

Steve’s technical proficiency, innovative mindset, leadership abilities, and dedication to community service made him an exemplary candidate for this award. His contributions to structural engineering are significant—and an inspiration to others in the profession. Steve has a genuine passion for mentorship and the development of young engineers.

“I grew up on a farm in rural northeast Pennsylvania, so cities always fascinated me as a child. I can always remember crossing bridges and looking up at tall buildings and just being in awe. I used to replicate the cities and would design bridges out of K’nex pieces and skyscrapers out of LEGOs, boxes, and whatever else I had.” ~ Steve Reichwein

Steve’s background in architectural engineering and ability to think critically has enabled him to engineer his clients’ visions effectively, regardless of complexity. With a knack for project management, Steve leads multiple large-scale projects concurrently, including the recently opened Sphere in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is the largest spherical structure in the world. In addition, other projects include the Madison Square Garden Transformation, 20 Times Square and the CFG Baltimore Arena Revitalization.

“My biggest professional accomplishment was being part of the building of Sphere in Las Vegas. I was part of the project from its infancy in design until the last bolt was set and the last ounce of concrete was cast.”

In addition to his active participation with professional organizations such as SEAoNY and ASCE, Steve regularly volunteers to conduct lectures and webinars at various institutions, including his alma mater Penn State. He also volunteers with CANStruction and has run the NYC Marathon in support of the NYRR Team for Kids charity.
