Severud Associates Promotions

The experienced and expert engineering staff at Severud Associates is our most important asset. Therefore, we are proud to announce the following promotions: David J. Bretl, Robert A. Calderon, Meghan T. Krupka, Morgan M. Miller, Olivia B. Parker, John W. Puleo, and Kyle M. Roshberg have advanced to the level of Associate; Andrew J. Aumiller, John Lu, and Kyle M. MacDonald have progressed to the position of Senior Engineer. All have shown a deep commitment to their profession and the firm.

Associates

David J. Bretl has worked for Severud Associates for six years during which time he has acquired knowledge of a broad range of structural systems, including concrete, steel, wood, and masonry as well as specialty systems such as long-span composite floor deck and insulated concrete forms. David’s expertise allows him to better serve his clients and in turn develop long-lasting relationships. His recent projects include the MSG Sphere in Las Vegas and the Kingsbridge National Ice Center, a redevelopment of the landmarked Eighth Regiment Armory in the Bronx.

Robert A. Calderon started his career with Severud Associates in 2013 as a summer intern after graduating from the University of Vermont; he returned full time in 2014 with a master’s degree from Columbia. Since then, Rob has gained deep experience with concrete and structural steel buildings and is particularly adept with steel renovation projects. Rob’s work on projects such as the Hood Museum of Art Expansion at Dartmouth College and the Two Penn Plaza redevelopment in Manhattan has led to strong relationships with architects, developers, and other clients.

Meghan T. Krupka has been engineering structures at Severud Associates for over seven years. In addition to analyzing and designing buildings, Meghan has spent many hours in the field, ensuring that the construction of large-scale projects such as 20 Times Square and One Vanderbilt, both in New York City, conforms to contract documents. The additional expertise and insight she has gained have allowed Meghan to supervise increasingly complex projects, most recently the TSX Broadway development in Times Square that includes the relocation and raising of the landmarked Palace Theater.

Morgan M. Miller has made significant contributions to several large-scale education, transportation, and mixed-use projects during her nearly six years with Severud Associates. Her recent projects include the expansion of the Trinity School, the Moynihan Station Train Hall, and New York University’s 181 Mercer Street, all in New York City. As her structural expertise and client relationships have strengthened, Morgan has taken on an increased leadership role, which includes her guidance of engineering students in the ACE Mentor Program of Greater New York City.

Olivia B. Parker has been with Severud Associates for over five years, the last three as a design team leader. Olivia’s commitment to client service and her technical advancement have led to increased responsibilities on large-scale projects such as 270 Park Avenue, the high-rise office building in New York City that will replace an existing high-rise and be supported over active railroad tracks. Olivia is also involved with professional organizations, including SEAoNY, where she is a founding member of the Young Members Group, which fosters the development of industry leaders.

John W. Puleo joined the staff of Severud Associates in 2014 after receiving degrees from Bucknell and Lehigh Universities.  Over the course of his career, he has engineered high-end residential buildings, large-scale retail developments, and school additions, among many other projects.  John’s current work includes 760 Madison Avenue, a mid-rise residential tower in Manhattan and The Boulevard, a redevelopment of the Hylan Plaza shopping center on Staten Island.  John is a volunteer with the ACE Mentor Program, which provides role models for students considering the study of engineering.

Kyle M. Roshberg began his career at Severud Associates in 2014. In the more than five years since then, he has expanded his technical expertise of structural systems and methodologies and now holds professional engineering licenses in New York and California. In the same period, Kyle has also become proficient with historical systems, including cinder concrete, terra cotta flat arches, cast iron, and concrete-encased steel. Among Kyle’s major projects is Moynihan Station and the redevelopment of the J.A. Farley post office in New York City.

Senior Engineers

Andrew J. Aumiller has worked on several large-scale projects including One Vanderbilt in New York City as well as the MSG Sphere in Las Vegas, for which he used parametric design and whose construction he is currently overseeing.  John Lu has contributed to several office building projects, including new construction, renovations, and tenant fit-outs and is a key design team member for the Halletts Point residential development in Queens, NY.  Kyle M. MacDonald has gained extensive experience in the design of new buildings, such as New York University’s mixed-use 181 Mercer Street, and renovations, including the redevelopment of Two Penn Plaza, both of which are in New York City.  Andrew and John have been with Severud Associates for five years; Kyle has been with the firm for four years.

These talented engineers, along with their colleagues, will keep Severud Associates at the forefront of the structural engineering profession, using best practices for safety, innovation, and economy in their designs and providing engaged service to clients.
