Steve Najarian’s career with Severud Associates started in 1982. During his more than 40 years with the firm, Steve has engineered buildings using a wide variety of structural systems and materials and is particularly fluent in the design of high-rise steel towers and reinforced concrete residential buildings. His long list of significant projects includes the West 66th Street headquarters of ABC in Manhattan, the Schaefer Landing residential development in Brooklyn, and the 27 on 27th apartment building in Queens. Among Steve’s other notable projects are the United States Mission to the United Nations and the high-rise One Seaport Plaza, both in New York City, as well as the Franklin Court office building in Washington, D.C.

 

Steve is co-author of an article about his 653 Tenth Avenue residential building project, “Optimizing Light and Space in the Big City,” which appeared in Structure in April 2014.

 

Steve is licensed as a professional engineer in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. He was certified by the Structural Engineering Certification Board until the program’s sunset in 2022. He earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Northeastern University.
