NYU John A. Paulson Center and Moynihan Train Hall get the spotlight!

Weeksville Heritage Center

Open House New York (OHNY) is hosting its annual festival that opens many New York City locations across the five boroughs for tours and special activities.  On October 18 – 20, 2024, get a behind-the-scenes look at some of the new buildings reshaping the NYC skyline.

Severud is honored to have two projects spotlighted in the OHNY Weekend 2024.  The John A. Paulson Center at NYU and Moynihan Train Hall were both selected by SEAoNY (Structural Engineering Association of New York) as structures worthy of distinction.

The John A. Paulson Center NYU is the newest of the numerous NYU buildings and was completed in January 2023.  This LEED Gold-certified complex provides underground athletic facilities, additional classrooms, state-of-the-art venues for dramatic and musical arts education, common areas for community gatherings, two eateries, and dedicated space for the local community. The upper floors contain student and faculty housing. This redevelopment supports NYU’s growth while creating a vibrant space that promotes innovation and community.

The multi award-winning  Moynihan Train Hall project was conceived decades ago but only completed in 2021.  This expansion of Penn Station addresses many of the station’s notorious issues.  As part of the busiest transit facility in the western hemisphere, Moynihan Train Hall is a linchpin for New York and Northeast transportation.  The hall features modern amenities, improved accessibility and a grand design that brings natural light and historic charm to this transportation hub.
